How Does Tox for Excessive Sweating Work?
Tox is used in clinical settings to help reduce excessive sweating by temporarily interrupting the signals that activate sweat glands. Sessions are quick, non-invasive, and most patients notice reduced sweating within 1–2 weeks, with results lasting several months.
Every excessive sweating treatment at Blu Cocoon MedSpa is performed by an experienced RN injector. Your nurse maps the area that sweats the most, places small, precise injections just under the skin, and most appointments take under 20 minutes with minimal disruption to your day. What Is Hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis is the medical name for sweating more than your body needs to stay cool. It most often affects the underarms, palms, feet or face, and it tends to happen even when you are calm and the room is cool. It is common, and it is treatable with tox, one of the injectable treatments our RN injectors perform every day.
If your sweating started suddenly, happens mostly at night, or covers your whole body, see your primary care doctor first, since it can have a medical cause.
You may be a good candidate if:
- Sweat soaks through your shirts
- Antiperspirants have not helped
- You sweat even when calm or cool
- You avoid handshakes
- You change clothes during the day
Common Treatment Areas
Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) can affect more than the underarms. Tox helps calm overactive sweat glands in the areas that bother you most, so you can wear what you like and shake hands with confidence.
- Underarms
- Palms of the hands
- Soles of the feet
- Forehead
- Hairline and scalp

Excessive Sweating Treatment FAQs
Does tox really work for excessive sweating?
Yes. Tox temporarily blocks the nerve signals that switch on sweat glands in the treated area, so that area makes far less sweat. Most patients notice a clear difference within 1–2 weeks.
Is tox for sweating the same as Botox?
“Tox” is short for neurotoxin, the family of injectables that includes Botox. Excessive sweating is one of the conditions Botox and wrinkle relaxers can treat, and your RN injector will explain which product they recommend for you.
Does tox for sweating hurt?
Most patients describe it as very tolerable and quick. The injections are small and placed just under the skin, and the treatment itself is over in minutes.
How long do the results last?
Results typically last several months, depending on the area treated. Many patients book their next visit when they notice sweating starting to return.
How long is the appointment?
Most visits take under 20 minutes. There is no surgery and little to no downtime, so you can go straight back to work or your day.
Which areas can be treated?
Underarms are the most common treatment area. We also treat the palms of the hands, the soles of the feet, the forehead and the hairline and scalp.
How much does tox for sweating cost?
The cost depends on the area treated and how much product it needs; the underarms usually need more than a small area like the forehead. You get an exact price at your consultation, and you can pay over time with Cherry financing.
Will insurance cover tox for excessive sweating?
Some insurance plans cover treatment for hyperhidrosis when it is medically documented, and coverage varies from plan to plan. Check with your insurer before your visit, and call us at (408) 295-2580 to talk through payment options.
Who performs the treatment?
Your treatment is performed by an experienced RN injector at Blu Cocoon MedSpa, under the supervision of Dr. Yalda Sedghi, MD, our board-certified supervising physician.
Is there downtime after treatment?
Little to none. Your nurse gives you simple aftercare instructions at the end of your visit, and most patients go right back to their normal routine the same day.
