At our San Jose MedSpa we are all about helping people solve skin issues and smoothing wrinkles with Botox but we know that great hair also helps a person’s overall appearance! While we don’t sell hair products, we do feel like sharing this DIY hair mask recipe that is perfect for the summer months when hair tends to be the driest.
The hair mask ingredients – which most of us have at home – are hugely beneficial to hair:
- Egg protein helps to re-build damaged hair by filling in weakened spots along the strand, which temporarily strengthens hair. Eggs also provide protein conditioning to help maintain strong hair.
- Milk contains two types of proteins – casein and whey. Milk nourishes hair and leaves it soft and silky. An added bonus is that the whey in milk can help stimulate hair follicles (for faster growth).
- Olive Oil coats the hair to make it stronger and shinier. It also adds extra moisture to help reduce dry or split ends and frizzy hair. Studies have shown that regular use of olive oil as a conditioner can help with maintaining a shine in your hair.
- Lemon juice helps remove build-up from shampoo or styling products. It can also remove excess oil without stripping away your natural oils.
Mix the ingredients below together and apply to damp, clean hair. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse and wash again with regular shampoo (if desired).
