If winter has left your skin dry, dull or flaky, it may be time to do some Spring cleaning to reawaken your skin. Here are some skincare tips from our San Jose MedSpa:
- Lighten Your Moisturizer. With more humidity in the air, your heavy moisturizer may be too much. Switch to a lighter moisturizer and if you find that you still need a hydration boost, supplement with an oil, such as Jojoba or coconut, underneath the moisturizer.
- Use a Gentle Exfoliator. Removing the buildup of dry or flaky cells will leave your skin looking healthier and more radiant. Choose a gentle exfoliator and aim to use it 2 to 3 times per week. Jump start exfoliation by coming in for a Facial Mask Peel.
- Hydrate From the Inside Out. Aim to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water per day. As the weather heats up, our skin will perspire more so make sure it is replenished. Fresh fruits and vegetables will also help with hydration and give your skin a boost from the nutrients.
- Apply Sunscreen. The sun’s radiation will be more intense in the Spring and Summer months. Use an SPF daily and don’t forget to reapply after swimming or excessive sweating. If you are going to be outdoors for a long amount of time, use a wide-brimmed hat and over-sized sunglasses for additional protection.
