For many of us summer means spending lots of time outdoors – at pools, parks, and beaches on vacation or on a “stay-cation”. As we ease into cooler weather, we return to more of an indoor lifestyle and are left with great memories and . . . SUNSPOTS.
A sunspot is actually the skin’s response to sun exposure. The tan that you’ve been working on is really an “injury” to the skin and, in response to the intense UV rays, the skin produces more melanin as “protection”, thus the darkening of your skin.
Unfortunately, for some people, the melanin production in the face can be splotchy, creating darker spots (sometimes referred to as “liver spots”, brown spots, age spots, or hyperpigmentation) that rarely fade over time. Hyperpigmentation spots can also be influenced by hormones, birth control pills and pregnancy.
Now is the time to do something about your sun spot damage! At Blu Cocoon, we have a few options for sun-damaged skin:
- FotoFacials: a series of 5 to 6 treatments can erase skin damage. A FotoFacial will treat discoloration, age spots, freckles, and broken capillaries while promoting healthy-looking, smoother skin AND decreasing pore size. This isthe “one-stops-all” treatment if you want to totally rejuvenate your skin.
- Facial Mask Peels: a series of 6 peels, such as glycolic or salicylic (more types available too), will address hyperpigmentation, smooth the skin’s texture and diminish fine lines.
